• Enforce architecture as tests rather than convention: module boundaries, one-way dependencies, and an append-only decision record are checked by the suite, so a violation fails CI instead of accruing.

• Hired for a narrow repair lane, then moved onto newer, more complex systems with little oversight, across about 40 machine models in regular rotation and 20 more occasional. Diagnosed them and their embedded boards from service manuals, hardware probing, and firmware tracing, where the wrong call is a $500–$3,000 part.
• Loaded software and flashed firmware on locked-down boards across 15 part types, and recovered hardware the official path treats as dead, including a $5,000–$7,000 machine already written off, then wrote Python and Rust tools that turned expert-only, one-shot procedures into repeatable, checkable runs.
• Rebuilt the OS and test-bed application on 6 machine models, the only route to the granular diagnostics and logs a hard fault needs.
• Built the shop’s missing data and automation layer: nightly SQL ingestion across 30,000+ assets, browser tooling for inventory and order entry, and a Dockerized label service used daily by 12 people, then ran the rollout and support that got it adopted.

• Back-of-house across six employers, on crewed line, solo line, and solo line-and-counter, where reading an operation mid-shift is the skill that transfers.

• Embedded in a medical-device repair shop, found where daily work waited on the inventory software, and built the missing layer over its API-less inventory, email and photo systems: bookmarklets, a Manifest V3 extension, and a proxy/data backend. Ran shop-wide daily for six weeks, until the vendor shipped the same capabilities natively.
• Ran adoption as part of the job: a build/live-mirror flow so non-developers could safely edit the deployed copy, plus rollout, documentation, and hands-on support for coworkers who did not write software.

• Opened up a closed system: reverse-engineered a legacy inventory app’s data into nightly SQL ingestion over 30,000+ assets, reconciled 2 internal ID systems that disagreed about which part was which, and scored every fact by source so a wrong one could be traced back.
• Shipped a vision-LLM identifier a tech uses in the field by photographing a part label, the smallest thing that answered the question people actually kept asking.

• Client engagement building a market-fit tool whose defining requirement is a refusal: it names a candidate worth testing, never a winner, because the decision downstream is where a practitioner spends a small marketing budget.

• Normalized 6 incompatible log formats into one queryable schema so failure, token, and workflow questions could be answered across tools that were never designed to be compared.
